THR 7 Days-1: Rwanda Primates Tour

This tour allows you see Parc National des Volcans famous for gorilla tracking ( gorilla permit cost US$500 per gorilla permit), seeing local communities, it takes to Nyungwe, in South West of Rwanda, a huge afro-montane forest. With over 10000sq.km in size, Nyungwe is the undisputed giant in Central Africa and Akagera game park

Day 1: Kigali to Ruhengeri
Start your safari from Kigali at leisure or on arrival at the airport,( the drive is 2 –3 hours) Drive north of the country to Kinigi near Ruhengeri. The drive is short and enjoyable viewing the undulating rolling hills of Rwanda Rwanda is located at the highest plateau of African Continent hence the mountainous country. Overnight will be at Gorilla Nest Hotel for upmarket/mid rate facility or at Kinigi Guest House for budget facility (FB).

Day 2: Gorilla tracking in Parc de Volcanoes
After breakfast drive to Park Headquarters to track gorillas in Parc National des Volcans. Gorilla tracking trakes you through the forest, hills, swamps and can be tough, arduous and tiresome and may take 2 - 8 hours in the forest depending on the movement og gorillas. But coming face to face with the great giants will erase all the lost efforts. View the gorillas as they go their daily activities for 1 hour worth the effort you have spent trekking. Return to your facility and overnight. (FB).

Day 3: Ruhengeri to Gisakura
Start early to drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park via Kigali. Along the way, make stops at places of interest including local markets, the traditional palace of Rwanda’s Former King in Nyanza. Drive past green fields of tea estates across the countryside surrounding Nyungwe Forest. (Driving takes minimum of 8 hours) Dinner and overnight at ORTPN Gisakura Guest House (FB).

Day 4:Nyungwe Forest
After breakfast take a guided nature walk tyracking chimps in the forest seeing a variety of primates and some of the 300 bird species found here, which include the Rwenzori turaco and black and white casqued hornbill. Look for large groups of colobus monkeys - sometimes as many as 200-400 in a group. OR go chimp tracking. Picnic lunch. Return in the late afternoon and overnight ay ORTPN Gisakura Guest House (FB).

Day 5 : Nyungwe to Kigali
After breakfast, visit Butare the Botanical Gardens and a cultural museum genocide site and communities. Llunch on the way and overnight in Kigali Hotel collins, Chez Lando Hotel Isimbi.

Day 6: Kigali to Akagera Game Park:

Morning Continue to Akagera National Park is located in the Eastern part of the country. Check in at Akgera Game Lodge and proceed to do southern circuit game drice and bird watching. Dinner and overnight at Akagera Game Lodge(FB).

Day 7: Akagera to Kigali
Early morning game drive, carrying a packed lunch. A canoe ride on the lake will yield a lot of birds and if possible the shoe bill stork. Proceed to Kigali for overnight (2 hours drive) Dinner and overnight at Hotel des Mille Collines/Hotel Umubano (BB).
End of the safari.
