Rwanda Primate Watching and Game Viewing Safari
This tour allows you see Parc National
des Volcans famous for gorilla tracking (gorilla permit
cost US$500 per gorilla permit), seeing local communities,
it takes you to Nyungwe, in South West of Rwanda, Lake Kivu Area and Kibuye are of interlocking hills.
Visit huge afro-montane forest with over 10000sq.km in size,
Nyungwe is the undisputed giant in Central Africa. The
natural forest is renowned for its large troops of colobus
monkeys, chimpanzees, butterflies and a rich variety
of orchids and bird species.
Over 300 bird species have been recorded. Visit some
cultural sites en route - the Museum in Butare and the
palace at Nyanza. Again visiting Akagera National Park
for game viewing Visit Kigali city an attractive city
spread over many hills for which Rwanda is prominent.
Enjoy local dances and see local cultures at times at
your hotel of stay. The City has a pleasant, beautiful
and handsome tall and elegant people very friendly.

Day 1: Kigali to Ruhengeri
You will be picked from your Hotel Kigali and be driven
to Ruhengeri. Or on arrival at the airport will be picked and continue to Ruhengeri.Overnight at Gorilla Nest Hotel/ Kinigi

Day 2 : Gorilla Tracking - Park des Volcanoes
Gorilla tracking in Parc de Volcanoes Morning after breakfast with packed lunch, you will be driven to the park offices for briefing. You will be allocated different families to track. To make sure that most of the students track in same families, you need to be early at the park offices so that allocation is done first for your group. Your will then be off from the park offices to begin your adventure. A briefing from your local guide and then it’s off! The time taken and the terrain varies (2- 8 hours) this depends on the movement of these gentle giants. The thrill of meeting face to face takes away the pain of some times long and arduous trek. Each encounter is different and has its own rewards, but you are likely to enjoy the close view of adults feeding, grooming and resting as the youngsters frolic and swing from vines in delightfully playful manner. Return to your overnight at Gorilla

Day 3: Park des Volcanoes national park
Optional track gorillas second time or Visit Karisoke Gorilla Research Centre which Dian Fossey
set up – the author of “Gorillas in the
Mist” visit communities or relax at hotel.Or visit Ruhengeri Market, providing you with an opportunity to see and buy local Rwandan fabrics and to see how local markets are organized/ Visit local projects, to see how your travel with us contributes to making a difference in local people lives and interact with project members/ Attend traditional dance lessons, to see and have a taste of local culture and how it is embedded in the tradition/visit Ruhondo and marvel at the views of the Virunga mountain chain. Dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla Nest Hotel or Kinigi Guest House.
Day 4 Ruhengeri to Nyungwe Via Gisenyi and Kibuye.
Drive to Nyungwe along Lake Kivu the largest of the fresh water lakes in the Albertine (Western) rift of the Great Rift Valley. Lake Kivu stands 1461m (4,790ft) above sea level and is Africa’s highest lake. The northern shore is near to the eruptions from of active Mt Nyiragongo volcano. Drive through Gisenyi area that offers excellent view of the lake and the Virunga volcanoes mountains. With its waterfront and sandy beaches, Gisenyi is a wonderful place to relax with the feel of tropical beach resort with captivating air. Continue to
Kibuye the most attractive of the lake ports, with a series of interwoven and undulating hills. It’s among Rwanda’s hidden treasures, with lush green hills and a peaceful breeze.
During this journey, you will see interlocking landscapes and varying land use practices. You will see the natural beauty of Lake Kivu with its islands, oddly shaped peninsulas and the huge Ijwi Island that is rich in the cultural history of the Rwandan people. Dinner and overnight at Gisakura Guest House- ORTPN facility.
Day 5: Nyungwe Forest National Park
Morning carryout forest walk in Nyungwe Forest tracking chimps and bird
watching see more than five primate species in a single location including rare species such as chimpanzee, mountain monkeys and the angolan black and while colobus monkeys. Nyungwe presents a unique phenomenon in primate tourism due to its huge concentrations of habituated primates whose troops can include 400 to 500 individuals. As an avian enthusiatic for birders, Nyungwe is the best place to carry bird watching.Overnight at Gisakura Guest House.
Day 6: Nyungwe Butare - Kigali
After breakfast, visit Butare town the Botanical Gardens
and a cultural museum genocide site and communities. Butare and visit the National Museum which provides insight into Rwandan history and culture. Along the way to Kigali, you will also visit the famous Kings palace in Nyanza which offers a rich insight into Rwandan pre-colonial history. Your final stop is at the art museum at Rwesero Nyanza. Along the way from Nyungwe to Kigali, you will pass through magnificent hills and cultivated country side.
Proceed to Kigali for lunch. Overnight will be in Kigali at Hotel des Mill Collins or Hotel Chezlando orHotel Isimbi
Day 7: Kigali - Akagera Game National Park
Morning depart for Akagera National Park after breakfast. The route which passes through Rwanda’s interesting landscape and living lifestyles. Check in at the lodge, you will go for a southern game drive alongside the Lake Ihema circuit. During the game drive, there are plenty of animals to see including elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles and many other mammal species. As one of the most scenic savannahs in East Africa, the game drive in Akagera provides you an opportunity to also view gentle hills blending beautifully with lowland swamps and water bodies.Also can do evening walks around the hotel where you can see various bird species or Participate in day-to-day local pastoral lifestyle. Overrnight will be at Akegera Game Lodge.
Day 8 : Akagera - Kigali
Early morning game drive taking the northern circuit that starts with a spectacular sun rise and early morning bird calls. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and landscape through the northern game drive where you will see hippos, crocodiles and more wildlife on the lake circuit. Transfer to Kigali. If time allows visit shopping and hand crafts centres or visit memorial
sites. End of the safari.
