    Queen Elizabeth National Park without TVs and radios nor any man made upset, simply the forests birds and insects sing. The leave provides the tempo and the chimpanzees tell divan stories. The silhouettes of the couples against a cracking fireplace, a roaring dip in the swimming pool, and the choruses of the forest life mingle to create a backyard of Eden like magical romantic ambiance that many honeymooners only dream.


    The tree house lodge, and Jacana Safari lodge is one of the dream accommodations that one can think of. Set at the edge of Uganda’s largest crater lake within Queen Elizabeth National Park that forms one of the most diverse ecosystems on the continent is a tree house lodge. The tree house lodge as Jacana safari lodge is planted inside the forest on the shores of lake Nyamusingire in the southeastern section of the national park; Nyamusingire consisting of other five interlinked craters is the largest Crater Lake in Uganda. Because of Jacanas co-friendly design, the moment we stepped there we became part of nature. Jacana is a continuation of the vast nature around it. The fragile use of rocks, poles, wood, rope, organic furniture blend absolutely with the smells, views and sounds of the tropical hard wood forest, the lake waters and the abundant wild life around. The delicate balance between nature and modern facilities is manifested in the swimming pool next to the lake; this is the perfect spot for screening tremendous nightfall. Set on the upper side of the pool is a sauna and massage area that provides a soothing holistic experience of the adventures. To the Bird watchers, queen Elizabeth is one of the places make ones reverie come true. Exploring the surrounding on foot can enable one explore the nooks and crannies, riverine, valleys and hills that flawlessly bare the biodiversity part of the Albertine Rift Valley. Hiking in the nearby Kakoni hill rewards with a breathtaking view of the crater lakes, Kazinga channel and lake Edward and George. Guided short nature walk away from the lodge in Maramagambo forest is a habitat to large numbers of chimpanzees, with number of other monkey species that include olive baboons, black and white colobus and red tailed monkey, the blue and hohoest monkeys, bush babies and gallogos. The bat cave port has millions of Egyptian fruit bats and their predators overfed plump pythons.


    The boat cruises and game drives with number of different types of animal species. Queen Elizabeth National Park has more bird species than any other part of Africa. The channels shoreline is populated by thousands of hippos and birds. In the eastern part is Kyambura Wildlife Reserve with three saline crater lakes that attract thousands of flamingos while on the southern part is the Ishasha sector dwelling to planet eminent climbing Lions. The steep Kyambura Gorge is home to chimpanzees, black and white colobus and red tailed monkeys with other primates. Wild life viewing includes elephants, buffalos, warthogs, leopard, lion, antelope and Uganda kobs.


    Cruise on the Kazinga Channel allows one to view natural world from the water at the same time as floating on the waters crowded with hippos, crocodiles and abundant bird life, the banks of the channel host herds of elephants. Kazinga Channel alone is said to contain the world’s largest concentration of hippos. At the end of the industrious day at Jacana, Virunga lounge becomes the ideal area for after banquet adventure stories of the days viewing.     Protea Hotels in another phase

    Once seemingly doomed after a structure collapsed, the hotel is courting international allege. The Protea director of operations for Uganda Stuart Cook said the deal will see Protea Hotels use their large expertise in hotel business to offer technical assistance to the construction team, before taking over management. He further added it is vital that local hotels get in partnership with established international chains; it will not only improve Uganda’s profile as a tourist destination but also easier and cheaper to market the hotels globally.

    The Protea Hotel is going to be built in three phases with the first and second to be completed within two months from now, the second to be done by September, when the hotel is set to be open in preparation for CHOGM. The commercial complex, housing the administrative offices and shopping center right at the road side and valley view block facing Taibah high school, the first Apartment building plus the cottages will be completed in the first phase. The VIP section and the main hotel building will be completed in the second phase. By September 850 rooms will be ready for occupation. The Hotel is intended to have 1000 rooms but the third phase will be only undertaken if need arises said Behakanira. Protea hotel Entebbe is the public, corporate world and tourists since the complex will have multi-purpose features. The hotel shall have Amusement Park, botanical gardens, a public swimming pool, entertainment halls, zoo that attract a variety of revelers due to a family feeling around it said cook. The hotel is located at very scenic site with a frontage to lake Victoria with its panoramic and breath-taking view makes it ideal as you experience the pearl of Africa.

    Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on schedule for CHOGM

    With the Commonwealth Heads of State and Government Meeting (CHOGM) months away, there is absolute so as to linger on schedule. According to the Public Relations officer of CAA, the Airport is undoubtedly the main gateway to Uganda. Over 90% of the delegates coming for CHOGM will have to go through Airport one of the objective of the meetings is to showcase Uganda as a country with capacity to host such meeting as well as promoting tourism in Uganda. The airport has the necessary capacity; gross traffic projections of up to 2022 were made. There is only the expansion of minimum space, which already started in September 2006. This will include physical expansion for the area; repairing the floor, the ceiling, air conditioning and introducing new baggage reclaim belts that will all be ready soon. Security will be at its best during CHOGM, which were worked on already. The other concern were, expansion of the current arrivals hall area, introducing a new facility to handle passengers in a good manner, installation of four passenger loading bridges, building a new cargo center and shift all cargo operations both dry and wet cargo. The cooling facilities will all be fixed. CHOGM will not only benefit Ugandans but tourists who will visit the country after the summit. There were some of the national parks identified for lodges and hotel development that will help improve tourism facilities in Uganda. Potholes in the City will no longer disrupt urban tours as well as Uganda tour circuit as one explores the pearl of Africa.

    Will BCR still top Bank of the year 2007 in Rwanda?

    The commercial Bank of Rwanda (BCR) was named bank of the year 2006 for Rwanda by the prestigious The Banker Magazine. Organized by the respected Financial Times (FT) of London, the emerging bank was noted for having turned the financial institution to become a market leader in a relatively shot span of time. The question relics will Commercial Bank of Rwanda again remains the bank of the year 2007? 2006s annual award ceremony was held at the Dorchester Hotel London on November 30th was attended by Bank chief executive officers and managers from 140 countries around the world. At the ward its chief financial officer, Mr. Chemo Gaye, represented BCR. Speaking during a press conference held at the BCR headquarters in Kigali last year, the head of personal banking Mr. Gilbert lamented ‘ it was gratifying for the bank to have won such a award without lobbying for it’.   BCR was privatized less than two years ago and they have been able to achieve such performance through innovative modern banking financial and better image said Gilbert. BCR was previously owned by the government of Rwanda and later privatized with an 80% controlling stake sold to Actis, a leading private equity investor in emerging markets with head offices in London. This ground breaking investment, brokered by the Rwanda Investment and Export Promotion Agency that made the link was Rwanda major privatization deal in 2004. Since investing Actis has helped to bring in world class best practices by implementing anti-money laundering, credit and compliance policies and improving system and operation control, which helps visitors on tourism safaris without Rwandan cash made easier. With the new introduced management and board who have extensive international and African banking experience, there is credit cards, Visas among others for not only Business travelers but also tourists in visiting the Gorilla regions of Parc de nationale Volcano’s commonly known as The Gorillas of Virunga among other tourists sites of Rwanda. While a lot of progress has been made, the BCR is still some way to achieving the desired objectives of customer service, supporting national development and providing return to their stakeholders.

    Myth or reality, Poor Road disrupts Bunyonyi Tourism

    Lake Bunyonyi is Natures Prime Island with a unique vantage point from which to experience the utter power and majesty of Nature in an African setting with over 26 Islands. From where its name is derived Lake Bunyonyi a ‘Rukiga’ word meaning ‘ a place of many small birds’, though there is acclaim of poor roads tourists can not ever imagined missing an Island exclusive to themselves live their dreams by not visiting natures prime Island, lake Bunyonyi.

    Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam to benefit

    Tanzania plan to invest USD313 million in air transport infrastructure in the next 10 years is to benefit Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam. The investment is meant to upgrade the existing facilities to meet international standards. The project, which, is to be concluded in 2011, is expected to generate jobs and spur the country’s economic growth through Travel and Tourism since the aviation industry is one area, which can help the Tanzanian economy to stimulate. Tanzania has 24 airports. Two are international airports; Jnia and Kilimanjaro Airport, while four others; Arusha, Mwanza, Dodoma, and Mtwara are local terminal to tourism destinations in Tanzania. Tanzania Airport Authority was directed to search for investors with substantial capital and no how to invest in such areas. Taxiway, Apron, runway and the lighting system at Jnia were last rehabilitated and upgraded 20years ago. These developments will enable visits to Nationals parks in Tanzania be made easily of which Travel hemispheres is proud to be associated with safaris in Tanzania.
