    Once seemingly doomed after a structure collapsed, the hotel is courting international allege. Protea Hotels is a 23-year-old South African hotel chain that has management and franchise agreements as well as joint ventures with over 100 hotels and inns spread in 13 African countries, Asian and European countries. The conglomerate signed a technical assistance and management agreement with the Behakaniras in January. The Protea director of operations for Uganda Stuart Cook said the deal will see Protea Hotels use their large expertise in hotel business to offer technical assistance to the construction team, before taking over management. He further added it is vital that local hotels get in partnership with established international chains; it will not only improve Uganda’s profile as a tourist destination but also easier and cheaper to market the hotels globally.

    The Protea Hotel is going to be built in three phases with the first and second to be completed within two months from now, the second to be done by September, when the hotel is set to be open in preparation for CHOGM. The commercial complex, housing the administrative offices and shopping center right at the road side and valley view block facing Taibah high school, the first Apartment building plus the cottages will be completed in the first phase. The VIP section and the main hotel building will be completed in the second phase. By September 850 rooms will be ready for occupation. The Hotel is intended to have 1000 rooms but the third phase will be only undertaken if need arises said Behakanira. Protea hotel Entebbe is the public, corporate world and tourists since the complex will have multi-purpose features. The hotel shall have Amusement Park, botanical gardens, a public swimming pool, entertainment halls, zoo that attract a variety of revelers due to a family feeling around it said cook. The hotel is located at very scenic site with a frontage to lake Victoria with its panoramic and breath-taking view makes it ideal as you experience the pearl of Africa.
