TH – SHORT 9: Uganda ,Game viewing, sight seeing and gorilla tracking (9 Days:Uganda Express Safari )
Day 1: Kampala-Bwindi
After early breakfast, set off for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park . The driving takes minimum of nine hours. Make a brief stop at the Equator line. The drive also takes you through the grasslands of Ankole, a common sight is the famous long-horned cattle; then to the highlands of Kigezi with their beautifully terraced hills. Break off for lunch on the way.Continue with the journey through beautiful scenery where you will be able to see the volcanic Virungas on a clear day. Arrive in Bwindi National Park in the evening.
This park is home of the rare mountain gorillas. Apart from gorillas, there are a wide variety of primates to see including the blue and red tailed monkeys. The forest itself is lush and green and there are streams running through it.
You will check in at Gorilla Forest camp/ Gorilla Ressort /Kitandara camp/ Buhoma Community Bandas and if tracking will be stating from Kisoro side, will stay at Kisoro Travelers Rest Hotel for middle range facility or Kisoro Heritage Guest House for the budget option. Dinner and overnight.
Day 2:Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
After breakfast set off early with your guide to track the gorillas. The thrill of your encounter will erase the difficulties of the potentially strenuous trek. Bring jungle boots and rain jackets because the park is often wet. Spend time in awe watching the gorillas go about their activities. Each encounter is different and has it’s own rewards, but you are likely to enjoy the close view of adults feeding, grooming and resting as the youngsters frolic and swing from vines in a delightfully playful display.Return to camp with ecstasy to share your spirits of the encounter with friends over a drink. Have dinner and over night.
Day 3:Bwindi – Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, depart westwards to Queen Elizabeth National Park . The drive takes may take you through the unique western rift valley the Ishasha sector famous for climbing lions. Take game drive looking for climbing lions and later proceed to Mweya peninsular Have dinner and over night at Mweya Safari Lodge or the Institute Hostel on the peninsular overlooking Lake Edward and the lush Kazinga channel.Day4:Queen Elizabeth National Park
Rise before the sun and drive to Kyambura Gorge for a thrilling Chimpanzee safari. The gorge is the natural home of our closest next of kin the chimpanzees. Your guided walk may last three to five hours and in addition to seeing the chimps, the trip may yield sightings of the colobus monkeys, baboons, red tailed and velvet monkeys, and other primates. It is important to note that the chimpanzee safari is subject to good weather because occasional flooding can make the trails impassable.After lunch, drive to the dock on the channel for an afternoon launch cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which joins Lakes Edward and George. It is a waterway that is filled with schools of hippos, buffaloes, and elephants, which can be seen at the banks. There are also rich variety of birds on the channel. Retire to the lodge for dinner and over night.
Day 5:Queen Elizabeth National Park – Fort Portal
Before sunrise go for the early morning game drive to catch-up with the early risers and predators returning to their hideouts. You are likely to meet grazing hippos, elephants, lions, spotted hyenas and leopards, bushbuck, water buck and stripped jackal, and of-course the several warthogs.Drive to Fort Portal / Kibale Forest National Park through Fort-Portal, with lunch enroute.Drive along the scenic beauty of the Rwenzori ranges and the stretch of savannah grasslands. Admire the smoke from the homesteads on the slopes of Rwenzoris mountains ranges.
You may also stop over at any tea plantation along the road if you wish. Dinner and overnight at Ndali Lodge/Fort Motel for Middle Range or Toro Resort, Ataco country resort or any other establishment for budget.
Day 6:Kibale Forest National Park
After early breakfast, report at Kanyanchu Tourist Centre where tourist activities begin and set out to track chimpanzee in the forest. Chances of viewing the chimps are over 90% but not a guarantee.Kibale National Park is one of the beautiful and stunning forests in Uganda . This is a home of our closest living relative the endangered Chimpanzee, the threatened Red colobus monkey and the rare I’hoesti monkey.
The forest also boasts of having one of the highest diversity and density of primates in Africa totalling 13 species including the Black and white colobus monkeys, Blue monkeys, Grey-cheeked mangabey, red tailed monkey and Bush babies and Pottos.
Afternoon take nature walk along Bigodi Swamp eco tourist site.. Dinner and overnight.
Day 7:Fort Portal Murchison Falls National Park
Morning after breakfast will be driven northwards stopping for lunch in Masindi town. After lunch proceed to Murchison falls arriving late afternoon . Visit the top of the falls and enjoy huge million gallons of water squeeze in barely 7 meter gap before it explodes forming the famous Murchison falls and placid river. Check at Paraa safari Lodge/Sambiya River lodge for middle range facility of or Red chili for budget option. Dinner and overnight.Day 8:Murchison Falls National Park
After Breakfast you will carry on game drive north o the River Nile. Murchison falls is famous for herds of buffalos, elephant, and many antelopes. This park is famous for the giraffe. Other wild game include lion, leopard, hyena and many more. After lunch take boat cruise on River Nile to the bottom of the falls viewing school of hippos, huge crocodiles busking in the sun and many more game that come close to the river for water and prey. Dinner and overnight.Day 9:Murchison Falls to Kampala
After breakfast, drive to the top of the falls if you did not visit it on your first day in the park later proceed to Kampala stopping for lunch break on the way.END OF TOUR
