TH-SHORT-5: 5 Day Murchison Falls & Kibale Forest National Parks
Day 1: Kampala - Murchison Falls
Morning will be picked from your hotel or residence and drive northwards passing through the famous Luwero Triangle. Visit the White Rhino Nakasongora Farm. View the White rhinos and proceed stopping in Masindi for lunch. Proceed to Murchison Falls. Drive to the top of the falls for magnificent scenery, breathtaking sight of the raging Nile as it forces it’s way through a rocky gap where millions of gallons of water squeeze in 7 meter gap before it falls (45 meters) in thunderous sound forming a placid river. Arriving in the evening to overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge/Sambiya River Lodge / Nile safari camp for upmarket or Red Chili Bandas for budget.
Day 2: Murchison Falls
Start the day with an early morning game drive looking or wildlife on the Buligi, Albert or Queens tracks north of the river Nile. You are able to view those animals that are unique to the African Savannah like lion, leopard, giraffe, antelope, elephant, and many warthogs.
After lunch, you will go for a launch cruise on the Nile River. The cruise takes you to the bottom of the thundering falls where you will see huge crocodiles, schools of hippos, buffaloes, elephants and a variety of water birds like herons, cormorants, ducks, bee-eaters, kingfishers, skimmers, fish eagle and the rare shoebill if chanced. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Murchison falls – Kibale Forest National park
After breakfast, drive to Kibale Forest National Park with packed lunch or lunch enroute. The drive is long but enjoyable as you pass through the jungle all the way to Fort Portal. Experience the endless stretch and beauty of savannah grassland that disappears in a mirage. The beauty of the Rwenzori ranges with cloud cover (on a cool clear day) and smoke immerging from the little kitchens and fireplaces of homesteads on the steep hills will steal your attention all the way the whole morning. Stop for lunch or have a picnic lunch enroute and proceed to Kibale National Park. Overnight at Ndalli lodge /Fort Motel /Toro Resort.
Day 4: Kibale Forest National park
Kibale Forest National park is a dense tropical rain forest which took time to be invaded by mankind. This is a natural habitat of chimpanzees and other variety primates. You will go for morning or afternoon primate chimpanzee viewing depending at the time of booking the confirmed time.
After early breakfast, report at Kanyanchu tourist centre where tourist activities begin and set out to track chimpanzee in the forest. chances of viewing the chimps are over 90% but not a guarantee.
Kibale national park is one of the beautiful and stunning forests in the Uganda. This is a home of our closest living relative the endangered chimpanzee species, the threatened red colobus monkey and the rare i’hoesti monkey. The forest also boasts of having one of a quite large number of primates concentrations in Africa with many species including the black and white colobus, blue monkey, grey-cheeked mangabey, red tailed monkey , bushbabbies and pottos.
After lunch have a primate nature walk to the Bigodi Eco-tourism wetland swamp sanctuary. View a variety of butterflies, birds and other insects. Over 320 bird species have been recorded. Where time allows, visit the communities around to experience the daily life of natives. Dinner and overnight at your lodge/facility.
Day 5: Kibale – Kampala
Visit one of the tea or the crater region or the natural bridge. Then proceed to Kampala with packed lunch or stopping for lunch in Mubende town. On the way you will by pass natural forests, swamps arriving Kampala in the evening.
