5 Days, Lake Mburo, Bwindi and Bunyonyi Forest Uganda Trip

5 DAYS ITINERARY LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK , BWINDI AND BUNYONYI.

 

Day 1
Kampala – lake Mburo

Your driver/guide will pick you from Hotel in Kampala or your residence at 7 00am from where you will start the drive to lake Mburo national park with lunch stop on the way. Stopover on your way could be in Ankole grassland where long horned cattle are common sight. Stopping at Equator crossing for memorable photo taking, Mpambire in Mpigi an art and craft center where drum making technology has been passed on from generation to generation. Carry out a game drive after check in at lodge of your choice:

Upmarket : Mantana Lodge , Lake Mburo Safari Lodge, Acadia cottages

Middle :

 

Day 2

Lake Mburo – Igongo – Bwindi impenetrable national forest.

After breakfast will carry out game drive looking for game buffalo zebra, antelopes, after drive out to Igongo for lunch and  proceed to Bwindi National Park the home of Mountain Gorillas. It is estimated that half of the world’s surviving population of mountain gorillas –400 live within Bwindi boundaries shared by Uganda, Rwanda and Congo. The drive is long but enjoyable..

 

You will then settle in at :

Buhoma lodge for luxury ,Kitandara Tented camp for up market , gift of nature for middle , Ruhija community rest camp for budget. Dinner and overnight as you prepare for tomorrow’s event! FB

 

Day 3

Gorilla Tracking Bwindi

Morning after breakfast with packed lunch, you will be escorted to the starting point for briefing by your guide. You will be allocated guides to track gorillas with, and then will be off to begin your adventure. A briefing from your local guides and then it’s off! The time taken and the terrain varies (1- 8 hours) this depends on the movement of these gentle giants. The thrill of meeting face to face takes away the pain of some times long and arduous trek. Each encounter is different and has its own rewards, but you are likely to enjoy the close view of adults feeding, grooming and resting as the youngsters frolic and swing from vines in delightfully playful manner.

After tracking will walk back to your lodge for overnight stay FB.

 

You will need to carry long pants like jean type, sturdy shoes to help you hiking steep and slippery slopes, long sleeved shirts and blouses to protect your bodies from thorns and itching plants. You may not rule out raining on you and at least a rain coat is needed to protect your bodies and any equipment carried along with like cameras. Also carry insect repellants and sun cream

 

Day 4

Bwindi (community walk or Batwa Experience) – Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast in the morning take community walk if you tracked gorillas of Buhoma OR do Batwa Experience :

 

The Batwa cultural experience was created to educate their children and to share their amazing heritage and traditions with the world. Here, you have the opportunity to hike through the forest with a Batwa guide, who shares his knowledge of the forest and see it through his eyes; or, visit a traditional Batwa homestead and learn from the women how to prepare, cook and serve a meal; or, talk to a medicine man about the medicinal properties of the forest flora; and hear ancient legends and traditional songs.

 

After will leave Buhoma and be driven to lake Bunyonyi . Evening will be at leisure around or non lake Bunyonyi. Dinner and overnight.

Day 5

Lake Bunyonyi – Kampala

Morning after breakfast will take boat ride visiting different islands with fascinating scenery. Visit some community projects on Lake Bunyonyi to the Islands seeing a different bird species and other local community activities. Watch some different bird species on the islands ,View undulating terraced hills that make part of this country beautiful scenery once known as the Switzerland of Africa.

After will be driven to Kampala stopping for lunch on the way and at the Equator. After proceed to Kampala arriving in the evening . END OF SAFARI
